Three Reasons Why Church Is Important

I Timothy 3:14&15 - “Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these instructions so that, if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and buttress of the truth.”

These verses illustrate once again the importance of the church. Biblically understood, the church is gathering together of a community of those who follow Jesus by faith and collectively make up the body of Christ. The building is not the church per se, but when people gather in a building they are going to church.

There are three reasons this church is so important. 1) The church is the household of God. This means that our presence is the place we find family and belonging under our Heavenly Father. 2) The church belongs to the living God. Temples to false gods in abounded, but there is only one place you can gather where the one, true God is worshiped. 3) The church is the pillar of truth. Without the preaching and teaching of Jesus and his apostles, there would be no truth in the world today. The church is the foundational place of truth.
