Without Hindrance

Acts 28:30-31 - “He lived there two whole years at his own expense, and welcomed all who came to him, proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.”

It appears that Luke (who wrote the book of Acts along with the gospel that bears his name) ends the book of Acts in real time. We believe Paul was under house arrest in Rome from around AD 60-62, so we can date the end of Luke’s story somewhere around that time.

And as he points out, though the leading Christian evangelist of the first century is limited in his movement, his preaching and teaching are unhindered. The word and kingdom of God simply could not be stopped or contained. While imprisoned Paul was able 1) share the gospel with those who visited him, 2) use the world’s capital city (Rome) as a sending hub for ministering to all the churches and to establish new ones, and 3) write maybe 7 letters of the New Testament (what we call “prison epistles”).

Today consider your “hindrances”. What is keeping you from telling others about Jesus or advancing the kingdom of God. It just may be that you are where you are under the circumstances you are in to preach and teach with boldness because no matter our hindrance today, the kingdom of God will not be hindered.
