“Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” -Hebrews 13:2
The season of friends and family gathering over food, games and gifts is nearly upon us!
If you’re like Hilary and me, most of our holiday planning centers on having to balance the expectations of various people in our lives. Which family “gets us” for each holiday? What did we do last year? Do you think we’ll have to host?
A mindset of biblical hospitality is one of our callings as Christ-followers. Just as many people hosted Jesus in their homes throughout his years of ministry, we have an opportunity to extend our sisterly and brotherly love to those around us by hosting with a joyful heart. The writer of Hebrews presents this as our opportunity to entertain “angels unawares.”
Beyond the obligatory hosting of the upcoming holiday season, how can you develop a mindset of biblical hospitality (even to strangers!) this year?
